Jon Savage’s Secret History Of Second Wave Psychedelia 1988-93

Today in the office we got excited about a brilliant record curated by Jon Savage; it is also featured as BBC’s compilation of the week.

Released on Caroline True and curated by Jon Savage, Perfect Motion revisits the psychedelic ‘baggy’ era of British music, a period that simultaneously looked back to the golden age of freak-folk and foreshadowed the coming electronic revolution. In Savage’s words, “These 14 songs are all part of that mood in one way or another, in their euphoric sound, experimental attitude, and mixing of dance with rock and back again. It was a wonderful time: the second age of psychedelia”.

You can have a look at a great informative review of the album published by The Quietus or purchase the record yourself, it is available eg. via Rough Trade.
