“Jock Scot was born John Graham Manson Leslie in Leith on September 21 1952. One of seven siblings to a military father (also Jock, a decorated Burma veteran who played the piano and accordion at home and died, aged 47, when young Jock was 15) he was raised on a tough “Wimpey estate” in Musselburgh. He was known by the family as “Pooch” Leslie because he was so small you could put him in your pocket.”
