On Saturday we headed to Liverpool for the annual GIT Award – a music prize that celebrates music across Merseyside.

This year the award was in it’s 5th year, and with 12 nominations it showcased the sheer variety of innovative music that comes from the area.

We were delighted to have Hooton Tennis Club and Stealing Sheep nominated for the award this year.

The Get Into This team did some great profiles on both bands which you can read here.

Stealing Sheep also performed a fantastic three song set at the ceremony which took place at Constellation’s in the Baltic Triangle.

Their costumes were ace and we can’t wait to see what the girls get up to next.

As fans of Bill Ryder-Jones we were pleased he won the award – he is a talented multi instrumentalist & producer.

We have loved his production input on The Wytches & Hooton Tennis Club’s debut records. We’re also big fans of his music.

He spoke to the Liverpool Echo about what he’s going to spend the £1000 cash prize on.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m going to put the cash towards a studio I’m setting up with Joe (keys) and Danny (sound guy/tour manager). They run War Room Records who have MiNNETONKA, By The Sea, Rongo Rongo and AGP.

“We’re going to set up in Birkenhead so there’s a decent place our side to work, so yeah it’ll go on equipment I think. Thanks so much again.”

Congratulations Bill – We look forward to your bright future.

Nice one sporting our t-shirt on your European tour too!
